Materials for 3D Printing

BrightBio materials for 3D-printing are designed from renewable materials and provide useful functionalities for many purposes. Materials range from transparent to opaque and are colored with natural colorants. All materials are easy to print with ordinary printers.

Our materials are optimized for filament printing and also available as granules”. Our materials can be used both in injection molding and extrusion, so that different manufacturing processes can be combined.

BrightBio Biomaterial Features

BrightBio Filament

Brightbio filaments are based on polylactic acid and modified with BrightBio Technology. Material is naturally clear and colored versions utilizes natural colorants such as indigo for example.

Applications: For everyday printing when you need a rigid material.
Technical benefits: Rigid, transparent
Environmental benefits: 99,5% biobased

BrightBio Tough Filament

BrightBio Tough filaments are based on polylactic acid and reinforced with BrightBio technology to be tougher, more flexible and more resistant to impacts. Material is semi-rigid and can tolerate quite a lot of bending without cracking. Material is naturally pearly white and colored versions obtain pearly/metallic look.

Applications: For everyday printing specially when you need a tougher material that won’t crack easily.
Technical benefits: Semi-rigid, semi-flexible, good impact properties, tough
Environmental benefits: Over 90% biobased

BrightBio Heat Filament

BrightBio Heat filaments are based on polylactic acid and combined optimally with another renewable polymers to achieve good heat resistance properties. It becomes a bit more bendable at moderate temperatures (over 60°C) but won’t soften considerably or start to deform until over 140°C. Thus it’s very easy and fast to anneal if needed. After that the stiffness won’t change much at moderate or even higher temperatures. Material is naturally light brown with satin shine.

Applications: Suitable for high temperature environments, can be exposed to boiling water for example
Technical benefits: Rigid, good temperature resistance
Environmental benefits: 100% biobased

LOIMU Granules

BrightBio® LOIMU biopolymers can functionally replace most plastics and typically fit as drop-in solutions to customers’ processes. Source materials are nature’s own renewable monomers and polymers LOIMU bio-polymers family is based on critical and high-demand functionalities like transparency, flexibility, elasticity, and impact resistance.

Designed especially for injection moulding processes but possible to use also in additive manufacturing (3D-printing).
